We advise – emergency supplies
Together with the economy, the FONES ensures that our country is supplied with all the vital necessities in times of crisis. However, anyone can unexpectedly find themselves in an emergency situation. In such cases, an individually compiled emergency supply provides a reassuring reserve cushion.
NES Divisions

Energy
The Energy Division ensures Switzerland’s supply of key energy resources in the event of serious shortages.

Therapeutic products
The Therapeutic Products Division is responsible for planning and ensuring the country's supply of essential pharmaceuticals, medical devices and hygiene products in the event of severe shortages that the economy cannot manage independently. Therapeutic products encompass both pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Foodstuffs
An adequate food supply is essential for survival. Consequently, food shortages are immediately perceived as a crisis. The Foodstuffs Division ensures that Switzerland maintains a supply of critical commodities and foodstuffs during serious shortages.

Logistics
The NES can intervene with support measures in the event of major disruptions to the logistics chains supplying the country with critical goods.

ICT
Information and communication technologies (ICT) are essential for businesses and institutions. A large-scale ICT failure would seriously jeopardise the functioning of the economy and the availability of essential goods and services.

Industry
The Industry Division of the National Economic Supply (NES) focuses on raw materials, auxiliary materials, and industrial goods that are used across sectors and are indispensable for ensuring the supply of essential goods and services in Switzerland. It regularly reviews the procurement risks associated with these goods and, together with supply‑relevant companies, prepares precautionary measures to manage potential shortages. The Division supports the industrial sector in maintaining the production of essential goods and services as reliably as possible, even during severe shortages, thereby helping to ensure Switzerland’s basic supply.
